About Majid Al Futtaim
Retail-anchored conglomerate developing the Tilal Al Ghaf masterplan in southern Dubai.
Majid Al Futtaim is the privately held UAE conglomerate founded in 1992 by Emirati entrepreneur Majid Al Futtaim. The group is best known regionally for its shopping centres, including Mall of the Emirates and the City Centre portfolio across the GCC, and for the Carrefour franchise in the Middle East and Africa.
Its residential development arm is concentrated around lifestyle-anchored communities adjacent to its retail assets. Tilal Al Ghaf, the company's flagship residential masterplan in southern Dubai, has rolled out in successive phases since 2020 with a recreational lagoon as the central amenity. Earlier village-style communities including Ghaf Woods and Lanai Islands sit within the same masterplan.
The retail-and-leisure thread that runs through the wider group is reflected in the residential offer: communities are designed to plug into a Carrefour, a City Centre or a Vox Cinemas hub from day one. For families, that translates into a one-development life with limited reliance on the wider city for daily errands.
